The FBI's Community Outreach Program
Beginning in 1988 with a drug awareness program, the FBI has expanded
its outreach efforts to include crime, drugs, gangs, terrorism, and
violence prevention. Linking community service, drug-abuse prevention,
and law enforcement is a major national trend as grass-root efforts have
brought about federal government support for public safety initiatives.
FBI employees have joined in this national movement, volunteering in a
wide variety of community-related efforts.
Each of the FBI's 56 field divisions has a Community Outreach Specialist
or Coordinator who actively participates in community outreach events.
These persons serve on boards, councils, and community coalitions.
The Norfolk Division offers speakers for groups throughout the community
on a variety of topics, including:
-
Terrorism
-
Violent Crime
-
Organized Crime and Drugs
-

-
Identity Theft
-
